There are few stores that make you just ‘feel good’ when shopping. And no I am not talking about the satisfaction from calming those shopping cravings from wanting a new dress or a pair of shoes. It’s the real feeling of actually contributing to society, of spreading good vibes and absorbing good karma.
I am so happy with my new pair of TOMS in support of the One-for One global movement, where with every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. With the season of Ramadan fast approaching, it's so important to show support and reach out to those that need a helping hand, even if it is in the smallest way possible. With the success of the founding idea, TOMS launched other products including eye wear and bags where every purchase goes towards restoring sight, providing safe water, supporting safe birthing practices and aid bullying prevention programs. Thanks to the lovely people at Apparel Group, I had the opportunity of attending the first TOMS press meet last week at Dubai Mall and I have to say these guys sure know to drive their message home. The TOMS story is almost omnipresent in the store and with every shoe you purchase, the TOMS story was displayed in the shoes themselves, on the tag and on the packaging. From April onwards, shoppers will also have the chance to watch the TOMS movie clip in stores with the new Samsung Gear VR that enables you to feel the emotions attached with the brand and its philanthropy.
The store had such a fun buzz celebrating this proud movement and their achievement to date but what stuck with me was the importance of telling your story. You just never know when you can inspire or change someone’s thoughts or perspectives.
The Spring/Summer 2016 collection is snazzy and with it they have introduced a bunch of new styles, patterns and innovative materials that are super comfortable and stylish. The red and beige classic TOMS are my favorites but in celebration of their 10 year anniversary they have released the Alpagarta in 10 exclusive colors. Funny enough, this is the first pair I own as the last two I bought were gifts. These came right in time for summer and make great shoes for a holiday. Which reminds me I need to start planning one soon!
