Review of Bioderma Hydrabio Eau De Soin SPF 30 - A Beauty Must-Have

Although spring is here and we have been enjoying pleasant weather with bouts of hot sunshine in the afternoons, my skin is still very much in winter mode. Throw in a random rainy day like Tuesday and my skin literally is as confused as it can get. That is not a good sign when you have to wear makeup every day as part of your professional work frontier. Thankfully Bioderma has finally launched the Hydrabio Eau De Soin, SPF 30 sunscreen water mist in the UAE that is truly a saving grace for my dry skin.

Bioderma has enjoyed the reputation of being a champion of ‘water’ in the industry and for good reason. Micellar water is now made by almost every company out there however I think no one quite gets it like ‘Bioderma’. When Edelman DABO sent us an invitation to the media launch of Bioderma Hydrabio Eau De Soin, I was excited to say the least. Living in Dubai, you usually tend to be the last ones walking into the party when it comes to product launches but I am glad the folks at Bioderma finally got this down to the desert. Ladies, this 4-in-1 skincare sensation will revolutionize the way you set your make up and top up your SPF during the day.

Bioderma Hydrabio Eau de Soin SPF 30 comes in purse-size white aerosol tin and a 50 ml bottle costs AED 99. The texture feels no different from a facial mist like the Evian one I usually carry around for an instant skin refresher. All you need to do is spritz some across your face, wait for it to dry (a few seconds) and off you go. There is absolutely no need to massage or pat your skin as it barely has any texture or greasy feeling.

Evian facial spray has been my portable skincare staple since my first trip to Canada about 4 years ago and having sensitive skin that is as prone to breakouts as it is to dryness, this soothing spray literally worked wonders on long haul flights to the drastic weather changes. Cue in Bioderma Hydrabio Eau De Soin with its hydrating, sun protecting and makeup setting properties and you have the ultimate trifecta of city skin soothers.

Why ‘city’ you ask? Well the mist cannot exactly be used as a sunscreen at the beach because it is not water or sweat resistant. It is ideal for touch-ups or moisture bursts during the day and can easily slip into your hand-bag so you always have a UV protection available.

Getting my make up touched up by the lovely Najla Kaddour, Dubai based celebrity make-up artist & beauty blogger

As much as I try to develop a good habit of using sunscreen, I find the texture of most cream based sunscreens too thick to use on the face and it is impossible to reapply on my made-up face without having to mess it up. With Eau De Soin, it simply comes down to blotting, a little powdering, spritz and go. It sets make up really well, taking away that powdered finish and gives the skin a lovely glow that doesn’t turn oily! Hallelujah!

Finally, makeup and sunscreen reapplication can live together in harmony. Who would have thought right?

PS: Eau De Soin will be available in UAE across all leading pharmacies in the first week of April.

PPS: I am not sure if you have noticed, but we started blogging once a week beginning this year. That’s only because our day jobs have been all too consuming. But do come say hi on Instagram as we micro-blog over there :)
