Back to Basics

It was tough deciding what to wear for my friend’s wedding last month. Now don’t roll your eyes at me because there were a number of things I had to consider, being a destination wedding in the ‘Susegad’ (laid back), palm fringed coastal region of India - GOA.
1. It was an outdoor wedding so the reception was held on a grassy, stony and uneven ground which meant there were chances of ruining an expensive, gorgeous pair of heels
2. The infamous red mud in Goa can leave the toughest of stains
3. Although November has sort of balmy nights, Goa generally has high humidity levels so I had pick something that was breathable and not too heavy.
For me, comfort is key especially when I know I’m going to be burning the dance floor... lol. I mean who doesn’t love to shimmy the night away at weddings!! Sitting in front of my wardrobe the day before I had to leave, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what to wear. For most weddings, I usually go with a long gown as it automatically amps up the glam quotient but considering the above, that would probably leave my dress in ruins at the bottom and more to manage than my heels and overall self.

Outfit Details: Dress - Moss Fashion, Singapore, Heels - Call it Spring, Necklace - Zara, Watch - Fossil, Bracelet and Earrings - Forever 21

I finally settled on this simple but elegant monochrome dress from Moss Fashion. Sometimes, it’s about reverting back to basic black and white - especially when that involves some stripes. Adding other pops, like a rich red lippy and my favorite statement necklace was something I was pretty keen on, to let the outfit really speak for itself. I thought of coupling the outfit with a pair of red heels but then I came across these inexpensive but amazing black glitter- studded heels from Call It Spring and I was sold! Old-school hollywood curls were only the icing on the cake.
My dad was right when he said “You just can’t go wrong with the classics.”
