A Greek Fantasy

Kalimera folks, I finally got down to blogging my most beautiful experience this year. Seeing Greece for the first time isn’t comparable to any other experience in life. Looking at those familiar white washed buildings and sights that I have been pinteresting over the years, was exactly how I dreamed it to be and yet so much more amazing than you can even imagine. Reliving it through these photos still leaves me in awe; it’s only been two weeks but it feels like a distant memory.

I couldn’t wait to see the most photographed sights of the Greek islands, so decided to tour the islands before visiting the capital city of Athens. To make the journey even more exciting I island-hopped on a cruise. Having a chilled glass of Vinsanto and looking out into the deep blue Aegean sea, feeling none of the stress back home was pure bliss. Celestyal cruise was a joy to ride, with some of the friendliest staff onboard and I recommend them if you want to tailor-make your Greek vacation.

I walked everywhere in Greece, soaking in the sights and sounds of each island. I loved the Greek architecture and it was fascinating to see how all structures were not more than seven storeys high, and painted in dreamy white, blue or pastels with bursts of flora. There were moments of complete amazement as I stopped to enjoy the breath taking views from points such as Little Venice - Mykonos, Mount of Prophet Elijah and Oia Village – Santorini, Monastery of St John – Patmos and Mount Lycabettus – Athens and moments of such organized chaos in Oia, Fira and Plaka that I would just stop and stare. I wandered the cobbled white and blue streets of Mykonos and strolled along the narrow white lanes of Oia and stopped at the coziest places for coffee during the day and wine in the evenings – because you know living your dream holiday is tiring, right? This was probably the first trip I did not really shop but just admired the sights and did a lot of people-watching. I had my meals at various local restaurants, experimenting with Greek street food as well as the popular tourist restaurants and have to say they do mean healthy salads.

What made each day worth the kilometers of walking around was taking a few minutes to view the gorgeous Greek sunsets. It’s moments like these that made me question, how I survive in the sand pit. Buzzing from all the beauty, I’d head back into bed pinching myself hoping that this was not all just a dream.

Here are some of my favorite moments that I like to look back on with a smile and some deep house music.
