When life gives you lemons...

Ever looked at your wardrobe and realised you’ve purchased similar pieces but probably in different colors and materials? Or you have your BFF’s birthday at this hip lounge and you want to wear something that’s extraordinary but there is nothing that tugs at your heart? It is exactly at moments like these (usually 2 hours before you have to leave) when life gives you lemons!

Honestly if I sit to think about the money I’ve spent on uninspiring pieces it actually makes me cry. I can’t help it, I am usually drawn to solid color separates in the hope that I will be able to mix and match and come up with something WOW but all this changed after my recent trip to Singapore. I guess I was inspired by how the locals really experiment with prints, cuts and silhouettes and do one hell of a job layering and mixing separates. It is so warmly satisfying when you spend on a piece of clothing that’s not only a work of art in itself but can be worn and styled so many different ways it almost surprises you.

Lemonein is one such brand in which each piece in the collection is beautifully unique and although it has strong ethnic accents it can be transformed from boho casual to elegant formals with a simple accessory or an edgy pair of shoes. Mital Doshi, the designer behind the brand, has a keen eye for striking fusion prints which she sources from the creative nooks in Kutch - Gujarat (India). The best part about her designs is that it is suitable for women of all ages and you can easily customize it and give it your own unique twist. You can also be assured that you will definitely NOT have a Kim K - Rita Ora moment of catching someone else wearing the same outfit.

Below are pieces from her second collection aptly titled "SETTU", signifying the bridge between handicraft and modern silhouttes.

This was our first collaboration with a fashion label and might we admit this is one that will always remain special. The sun wasn’t too kind to us that day but thanks to our photographer Aseya, who did a wonderful job in capturing the nuances of the collection. Oh and what did you think about our makeup? Tabassum who did our makeup, is a self taught MUA and we were honestly stunned at how she transformed us. You can catch some of her work here.

I am currently spring cleaning my wardrobe and discovered a few awesome pieces I thought I lost. Woohoo! I am also taking this opportunity to re-imagine my wardrobe. *Need to curb these strong urges to shop*

Moral of today’s post: When life throws a few lemons your way, you grab them and make one hell of a margarita!

You can view and shop the entire collection here. If you are not so much of an online shopper, then you can follow Lemonein on Facebook and Instagram for updates on where Mital will be exhibiting next. Each style has an option to alter the design as per your preference.
