My Dubai

No matter which part of the world I am in, be it my hometown, Mumbai, a part of me always waits to go back to my real home - Dubai. This city and I have a homely relationship, so you can imagine my excitement when this high-waisted number made its way into my closet.

Outfit Details: Top - Ali Express, Skirt - Moss Fashion, Tampines Mall, Singapore, Heels & Purse - Call It Spring
Blue Beaded Necklace - Forever 21

But first you have to know that since I am pretty much pear (technically triangular) shaped, it is quite challenging to balance wearing items that suit my body type but still keep me comfortable. I can usually be found rocking shift dresses or flowy tops over skinnys but it’s off late that I developed a fondness for high-waisted skirts. They hide my well-endowed hips perfectly and give great definition to my slender waist.
This skirt, ironically, is from a local boutique in Singapore that sells unique pieces made in Hong Kong and it was just love at first sight when my Aunt saw it casually hanging on the rack. It has sketches of all the iconic structures in Dubai and is so versatile that you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion. So far I have tried the tucked-in-top style and I have to say I have never felt more confident about rocking this trend. The best part about this skirt is that it is a statement piece of clothing so you can get away without wearing any accessories.

Just a heads up, you are going to see a lot of this skirt in the future and I am looking forward to seeing how creative I get with styling this awesome piece.
What are your thoughts on high-waisted skirts? Any other style suggestions for triangle body shapes?
