Product Review: The Face Shop White-Seed Whitening Kit, Real Nature Mask: Rice & Seaweeds Moisturizi

In continuation from The Face Shop Beauty Hamper Review post, below is our experience with their skincare products.

White-Seed Real Whitening Deluxe Kit

What is it?

This kit consists of:

1. White seed real whitening toner: Tones the skin and makes it clear & bright.

2. White seed real whitening lotion: A whitening emulsion that quickly absorbs into the skin without any stickiness and controls the balance of oil/water in the skin for long lasting bright & moisturized skin.

3. White seed real whitening essence: eal whitening essence that restores the skin’s inner brightness.

Hexylresorcinol gives powerful whitening effects that is 1,000 times more than that of vitamin C, to create milky white skin that shines from the inside Hydro matrix gel system maximizes moisturizing ingredients and active ingredients for dewy, clear skin

How to use it

This trio is best to apply before going to bed to let the skin relax and absorb the natural ingredients. First step would be to wash your face with your favorite cleanser to ensure your skin is clean and rid of any excess dirt/ oil. Begin the 3 steps with first applying the toner all over your skin. After waiting a couple of seconds for it to dry off, proceed with the lotion and lastly the serum.

Experience

We let Savannah, Stacey’s sister try out this kit and having consistently used it for two weeks; she observed a slight change in her complexion and could notice her skin looking slightly fairer. Although she was quite content with the initial outcome, some of the dark spots on her face wouldn’t really lighten during the process whilst the rest of her skin reacted positively well to the real-seed whitening products. Although not too overpowering, it does have a mild yet refreshing scent.

On the other hand, the first doubt we had was WHEN to use which product. Perhaps a 1-3 step guide could’ve been printed on the label which would make us more aware. However, we eventually proceeded with cleansing our face, applying the toner, lotion and lastly the essence. The only issue with the contents of the product is that the lotion takes a while to absorb into the skin and when the serum is finally applied, it feels too thick and heavy on the skin.

Conclusion

Since we did not see any significant changes in the first week itself, we were not too sure on the progress we would achieve had we used it for a longer period. We also found that the slight brightening effect lasted for less than a day. We wouldn’t really recommend this as we have tried far better skin brightening products (Clean & Clear Morning Burst Skin Brightening Facial Scrub and Origins Never A Dull Moment Skin Brightening Face Polish) with a more appealing name and without having to go through a 3 step routine.

Real Nature Mask: Rice

What is it

A mask sheet that has rice extract keeps the skin spot-free and bright.

How to use it

1. Get the skin even by toner

2. Place the mask sheet evenly according to where nose and eye areas are

3. Take off the sheet after 15-20 minutes. Gently pat for better absorption

Experience

We are always a bit skeptical when using new brands of face masks because of our extremely sensitive skin but the brand’s promise of using natural ingredients prompted us to try it. We all know that the order in which the ingredients are listed on the product label is in terms what is used the most. We were happy to notice that rice extract was the third on list whilst fragrance was the last which meant low risk against any skin irritation due to fragrance.

The rice mask felt quite cool on the skin and had a mild scent which was not over powering. The essence was clear and non-sticky and literally drenched the cloth. We experienced a slight itchiness but that did not last for too long. The rice granules is said to exfoliate and brighten the complexion. After we peeled off the mask, our skin did feel soft and squeaky clean and looked bright and refreshed.

Conclusion

We cannot conclude why we did feel the slight irritation, perhaps it was formula or the material of the cloth but our skin felt much softer, thoroughly cleansed and brighter to a large extent. There is no overpowering artificial fragrance that usually comes with various facemasks which makes it great for those with sensitive skin. We’d say it makes for a good quick facial at home or on the go for renewing tired, clogged and dry skin.

Seaweeds Moisture Pack

What is it?

An oil-free sleeping pack containing hyaluronic acid water and seaweed extracts that gives nutrients and moisture for dry and tired skin.

How to use it

After your cleansing and toning night time routine, take an appropriate amount of the product, spread evenly over the face and neck with the exception of eyes and lips area. Massage gently and leave it until following morning. Wash off with lukewarm water and finish with cold water

Experience

Instead of leaving the face pack overnight, we left it on for about 2 hours before going to bed (as we did not want to stain our pillows and quilts). We were quite surprised to find that although we did not follow the usage directions to the T, it still had a very soothing effect on our skin, especially since we have sensitive to combination skin. The texture wasn’t too thick and heavy and spread evenly on the skin.

What is quite amazing about this pack is that even after using for only 2 hours adn then washing it off, it actually worked overnight on the skin, leaving it feeling soft and hydrated for the day, which is usually a long one for us. With the ton of products we are currently using, we see this one as taking a permanent spot on our weekend beauty regime.

Conclusion

A good, inexpensive, overnight quick fix for those with dry and tired skin. Although results will not be permanent, it helps if you want to look fresh for an event the next day.
