Sephora Makeup Haul

The minute we reached Chicago all we could think about was getting our hands on coveted make up products unavailable in the UAE. There are so many brands you cannot get access to in Dubai such as Kat Von D, Tarte, Stila, Anastasia Beverly Hills to name a few and even if you do get some products from these brands on Al’s Shop, the price is always 15-30% more than in the US.

Here are some items we bought and we can’t wait to experiment with new looks for the coming festive season. You can expect many review posts to follow (complete with a FOTD photo) but overall our thoughts are as follows:

• Moonshadow Baked Palette by Sephora (In The Nude) - is fantastic with a cute selection of warm wintery shades with a super sparkly finish. I was pleasantly surprised as to how soft, rich and pigmented the colors were and how well the shadows seamlessly blend together. Typically when we buy high-end palettes we muse the following: "we should have just bought 2 or 3 of the single shadows ". But this one is as good as Urban Decay’s Naked Palette 2. Wait..guess what, when used wet, the dark shades can be used as an eyeliner with an intensified, bolder effect.

• Urban Decay’s Make up Setting Spray – This has been our savior not only at major events and occasions but especially at outdoor concerts (here’s to looking fab at Sandance all through the night ;)) This weightless mist is true to its claim (well at least for us) and keeps our makeup intact without melting, cracking and fading. Although this product is available in Sephora stores in UAE, what is not available is this amazing travel size bottle that you can carry everywhere and one that can snugly fit into your clutch.

• Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (Aria) – A close friend (also a complete makeup geek) introduced me to Stila liquid lipstick and trust me when I say it’s unlike any other. Not only does it smell amazing but the highly pigmented liquid lipstick is weightless on the lips, delivers long-lasting results and doesn’t bleed or transfer!! This shade is perfect for the current reason and different from the usual bright pink lipsticks we currently own.

• Kat Von D liquid lipstick in L.U.V and Lolita – We love liquid lipsticks and fell in love with the Kat Von D when we were introduced to it last year. While they say that they are long wearing, they don’t say how long they wear but we’re happy that they can last through us eating and drinking. We have to use makeup remover to get them off our lips and even then, sometimes there is still a slight stain left! Kat Von D have a good selection of colors in their matte liquid lipsticks range and LUV is a vibrant violet color that we loved that minute we tried it on at the store and Lolita is just one of those shades you can wear, no matter the color of your outfit. Apart from Stila this is another liquid lipstick that does not cause your lips to peel and flake – Win!!

• Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade (Dark Brown) – After having read millions of rave reviews about this product we couldn’t wait to get our hands on these. There is truly something magical about this product because its gel like texture allows you to shade and shape your brows – like a 2-1 product. You have to try it to believe it!

• Sephora Color Lip Last – No 07 Natural Pink - peachy pink – When you enter Sephora, your immediately drawn to more expensive brands — Nars, Makeup Forever, Urban Decay, and the like. You should have a look at the hidden gems in the Sephora Collection like their Color Lip Last collection. We picked this shade as it’s quite neutral to wear to the office. The formula glides on smoothly with a creamy texture however it dries super quickly and will not budge once it sets.

• Make Up Forever HD Primer (Neutral) – We happened to find this product on our way to the checkout counter and popped one in our cart simply because of the small travel size. This primer is one of the best as its translucent when applied and provides a solid base for your foundation. We also find that it tones the skin well and doesn’t feel heavy unlike the dense silicon based primers.

• Too Faced Liquified Longwear Lipstick in Melted Berry – We could have picked this up from Sephora UAE but hey if you can get it at a much better price in USA why not. This just feels divine when applying and almost makes you want to eat (think of melted red skittles…yeah that’s what we are on about).
