The Nude Makeup Look

Hope you have missed us :)...for those of you who have been following us on Instagram will know that we were holidaying in Chicago during the Eid break and hence did not have a lot of time to blog. However we do have plenty of ideas for fall/winter so expect image-heavy posts beginning this week.

It has been almost 2 weeks since we did a makeup post and we thought let’s try a look that’s quick and easy that requires less makeup. It’s refreshing to change your make up and go for an au natural look once in a while. And with winter coming up, it’s better to rock a face with less make up than have your skin drying up with various products on your face. There are plenty of places to go wrong with a nude look, though, and sometimes trying to look like you aren’t wearing makeup requires even more make up!

Read on to know how you can achieve this nude look together with tips for getting it right...

If you know you are likely to be doing the nude look soon, make sure you cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize as frequently as possible before hand. This will make your skin glow, and make you look naturally flawless! Our favorite tried and tested products are the Clinique 3-Step skincare range - Cleanse, Exfoliate and Moisturize. The best part is they have different blends for different skin types which makes it all the more effective. Clinique products are available in major beauty department stores across the UAE - Sephora, Wojooh, Areej, Paris Gallery and Beauty Bay.

Next step is concealing any spots and blemishes. Ensure you have a good quality one that is in the right shade and blends into your skin tone well and use it where you need it. If you’re not a concealer person go for a BB cream, a tinted moisturizer or a light foundation. Laura Mercier, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, BareMinerals and MAC all make popular versions with photo finish results. If you're buying from the affordable range of makeup brands do your research first - L'Oreal, Revlon and Bourjois all make good foundations available in beauty department stores listed above and in shops like Max Fashion and Lifestyle.

To give your face that lovely glow, brush a bit of powder based bronzer along the hollow of your cheeks and at your temples and highlighter along the cheekbone and T-zone. We used the Karaja bronzer as one swab with a brush packs on enough color.

Remember that the nude look is luscious lips and fluttery eyes, rather than smoky eyes and heavy foundation. Nude lips are best achieved by using a slightly coloured lip balm, so your lips need to be in good condition! Invest in a lip exfoliater to make sure they look and feel their absolute best. We swear by the Lush lip scrub and Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip balm for smooth and supple lips. For best results, add this to your night time pampering routine.

Lastly your eyes can still look amazing without layers of make up! Apply lashings of a good, volumizing mascara and curl your eyelashes, to give them maximum impact.

To give your lips some more oomph, apply a clear or nude gloss over your lips (NYX LG162 - Nude Peach). This is perfect for transforming a day look into night time glamour!

Need to transform the nude look, and fast? Add some bright red lipstick, or a shimmery neutral coloured eye shadow and thinly line your eyes with a black eyeliner. You’ll instantly look old school glamorous, in less than a minute! We used ‘Half Baked’ on the lid and ‘Bootycall’ on the brow bone from UD’s Naked Palette 2.

The nude look is amazing to sport in all seasons. If you don’t want to go heavy in winter, stick to a simple nude look and change up your lipstick for some fun!
